When to use command install

Use the command installer when the host already has a supported operating system and you need to install or update the framework payload without booting installation media. This is also the normal recovery path for refreshing framework components on an existing LGF host.

Run the installer

Use the installer and release artifact supplied for your LGF release. The exact download URL is release-specific; do not reuse an old release URL from an archived article.

sudo -i
cd /root
curl -fLO <current-LGF-release-archive>
tar -xf <current-LGF-release-archive>
cd <extracted-LGF-directory>
chmod +x framework-install
./framework-install

After the first successful run, the canonical command is normally available as:

sudo framework-install

The installer may configure dependencies, Docker, local service identity, Samba domain services, storage integration, and framework command shims. Read the output for ERROR or REFUSE lines; a warning about an optional library payload is not the same as a failed framework install.

Common failure: identity bootstrap

If an old host reports that the identity broker or SELinux policy could not be installed, collect the full installer output, confirm the host is a supported EL9 system, and verify that package repositories and SELinux are available. Do not continue deploying benches until identity verification passes.

Verify

Confirm that framework-install is on the expected path, the Operator Console is reachable, and the framework status page reports healthy services before moving on to first-time setup.
